![]() We made it appear more like the majority made. The classic General Lee plate had a revision as well as it was patterned off an original with that particular plates off features. It is the correct "Kraft Mac and Cheese" orange.lol. Like all the California plates no longer have the lemon yellow embossing. There has been some revisions of other plates some never noticed. The new embossing style allows the plate to lay flatter and the new bead makes it look bigger.Īs the old inventory gets used up, all of the old plates will have the part numbers dropped. We also did away with the part numbers and the boarder stamp is a real bead now versus the old style that had a rolled edge. We brought a New York prop plate made by the same guy that made the Ghostbusters plate and had it color matched. They would not make them without them.Ī couple years ago we joined up with a facility close to home that gave us the ability to color match. We supplied all art and such and they added that number. The little number in the corner was for their inventory and manufacturing. That yellow was pretty much the only option. The place we used to manufacture these at the time only allowed us a limited pallet of color options. (And before people attack me in the comments, yes I know that was the original name for the car and was eventually changed for the kids who watched the show knew the Ecto 2 was a different vehicle.)Mabey Egon changed the license plates back to the yellow variants because they needed the white ones for another car when it was put in storage.I know this is an old topic, but wanted to at least have it go into the archive with a response. And license plates have no lore behind them, I mean in ghostbusters 2 when Venkman yells taxi, and the Ecto 1a pulls up, it says Ecto 2. The Ecto 1a was probably being used by Ray, Winston, and Venkman, and Egon used the Ecto 1 for traveling to Summerville. In the book, it stated that the Ecto 1a was a newly purchased Cadillac, while the Ecto 1 was put in storage. Okay no, the Ecto 1a wouldn't be downgraded, why would they put the grills back on the hood and back door of the car, replace the red footstep, change all the LEDs and lights, and take off the stripes, for sentimental value, that's not very realistic. What do you think? One car? Two cars? How do you explain the changes from GB1 to GB2 back to the original design, but with gunner seat and RC ghost trap? It would have been interesting if we saw two cars at the end of the movie, in all honesty. ![]() with the original? That means the new movie features the return of the original car and then. are we to believe they bought an identical car and the did. given it's just four Ghostbusters, Janine and Lewis, the firehouse, and the car. Some people have suggested that there's actually two twin cars, but. The gunner seat and RC ghost trap could be upgrades from between films or after GB2. ![]() ![]() I always just assumed that the Reitmans simply ignored the look of the car in the sequel in favor of its look in the original movie, a minor retcon, really. With new plates, ECTO 1A, it's a good chance that the ECTO 1 plates are still in use. If it were the same car it would most likely still have the ECTO 1 plate. Afterlife re-introduced the car the way it looked in the original film with the license plate of Ecto 1, a gunner seat (the ladder moved to the other side), and a trap door for an RC ghost trap to come and go. The biggest most in plain sight proof that it's a different car, is the license plates. 1989's sequel re-introduced us to the Ecto 1, but with changes, upgrades, and a license plate reading Ecto 1A. I'm leaving out the 2016 movie's car since that was a reboot and not in continuity with the other three films.ġ984's original film introduced us to the Ecto 1. There seems to be some disputes and some continuity issues in the movies. In these films, that would be the Ecto 1. In movies like Ghostbusters, the hero's vehicle can be as iconic as the hero. ![]()
