![]() ![]() Hong Kong inspector Jackie Chan and loud-mouthed LAPD detective Chris Tucker have yet to hit the big screen once more in another sequel from director Brett Ratner's franchise - Rush Hour 4. ![]() The comedy starts with the once fresh and new Rush Hour, and continues the fun and timeless laughs on into the second and third instalments. I'd be very happy if theaters become an enthusiast space without the general audience browsing their phones and talking over the films.Prepare for explosive action and hilarious moments as you watch the Rush Hour Trilogy. Three international blockbusters in one, this action-comedy trilogy offers solid entertainment value for the whole family. I don't need to see new films in a theater, I just don't want to completely lose the ability to see movies from any given year in a theater. But I do think if that happens, independant theaters will pop up to continue to show films on a big screen, and I'd be happy with that. If theaters go the same way and the big chains die, that'll be more upsetting to me. ![]() I prefer buying nicer editions from unique labels anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if physical versions of films eventually do become a collector thing similar to vinyls today, but I wouldn't mind that. I collect films physically too, but now I just buy movies I've already seen and love. The Criterion Channel has been an amazing addition for cinephiles. I wouldn't be able to watch so many movies easily without streaming. I'm about to watch my 300th film of the year in a few days. I just have to look.Īs far as streaming goes, I love it. I've been seeing 50+ films a year since before covid, and even after covid once theaters opened up again, I haven't been struggling to find something new to watch every week. They can't compete with the ad space of tentpole films. ![]() It is true that you're not being advertised these movies. (I watched The Holdovers a few days ago in an empty theater) Mostly from small, independent studios that don't have the marketing budget of Disney. You want options for original films that have come out in the past year that aren't artsy? I could name at least ten. The conversations I do have with people who don't watch as many movies, but say they want to watch more tend to confuse me. But I'm a cinephile, I'm definitely not the average person. Just checked and in the last year, I've watched 56 films at the theaters, so the problem definitely isn't me. It's just hard to commit to that kind of time when I could be doing something else and the pause button is right there. The movie was fine but it took me two sessions to watch and it's only like 90 minutes. I watched the Mario movie on Peacock a few weeks ago. It just doesn't happen, but we will get together to eat and play games. My friends never say "let's go to the movies" like they used to. Not because of the virus, but just because it's not something I want to do anymore and I got out of the habit. I haven't been back to the theater since COVID, and unless someone asks me to go I don't think I ever will. I grew up watching movies all the time, and going to the movies 5-6 times a year, but the past few years have really warped my sense of time commitment and now I just don't want to spend the time to watch one. I play games with most of my spare time but when I do want to just watch something, it's usually Youtube or an episode of TV that's less than 1 hour after commercials are skipped. I'm 48 and have grown to prefer short-form content when I watch video. ![]()
